POPE FRANCIS TO CONSECRATE RUSSIA AND UKRAINE TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY
On Friday 25th March, the Feast of the Annunciation, Pope Francis will consecrate Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This will take place during the Celebration of Penance that he will preside over at 5.00 pm in St Peter's Basilica, calling on the intercession of Our Blessed Mother for peace. The same act, on the same day, will be performed in Fatima by Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, Papal Almoner, who is being sent there by the Pope. Bishop Richard will also celebrate a

UKRAINE HUMANITARIAN APPEALS
DEC Financial Appeal
The Disasters' Emergency Committee, of which CAFOD is a member, has set up a Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Families fleeing the conflict have left their homes with only the items they were able to carry. Your donation will help DEC to provide food, water, shelter, healthcare and protection. Please donate online at the DEC Ukraine Appeal webpage or using any of the contactless-giving machines in the Narthex. The UK Government has committed to match donations up to £20 million.
Material Donations
For those wishing to support Ukraine with material donations, St Mary’s Church, Horsell, is offering a drop-off point for medical supplies (bandages, plasters, blister plasters, antiseptic wipes, antihistamines and painkillers), toiletries (baby wipes, sanitiser wipes, shower gel, toothpaste, shampoo, shaving cream) and food (energy bars, instant noodles, soup powders, pot noodles, tea/coffee; hot chocolate and ring-pull canned foods). Update from the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton
The Diocesan website has an update on the different ways in which parishes and communities can help the people of Ukraine. There is information on opportunities for prayer, some aspects to consider for those thinking about offering their homes to host refugees, and information about the effort to compile a list of people across the Diocese who speak Ukrainian and English and are willing to volunteer their time to help people arriving in Sussex and Surrey. Stations of the Cross
During Lent, Stations of the Cross will be prayed after the 10.00 am Mass every Wednesday, every Friday evening at 7.00 pm except 8th April and every Sunday afternoon at 4.00 pm.
Reconciliation Service
A Parish Reconciliation Service will be held on Friday 8th April at 7.30 pm.
MUSICIANS, CAN YOU HELP?
Due to illness, we will have no organist available for the 10.30 am Sunday Mass for the foreseeable future. If you would be able to play, not necessarily every week, either the organ or the keyboard at this Mass, or know someone who could, please do get in touch. The support of either organ or keyboard is so important for the singing at the 10.30 Mass that we would very much like it to continue. Please consider this request and contact the parish office if you can help. Thank you.
SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will not be available after the 10.00 am Mass on Saturdays 19th, 26th March or 2nd April. On these Saturdays only there will be an opportunity for Reconciliation after the 6.00 pm Mass before the Portuguese Mass. We are delighted that this year we have 147 young people preparing for First Holy Communion. On those Saturdays they will be celebrating their First Reconciliation.

LENT LUNCHES
Here in the Function Room at St Dunstan’s Church we will be hosting the second of two lunches on Friday 1st April, from 12.00 noon – 13.30 pm. The lunch consists of a simple meal of soup, bread and cheese for the cost of a donation of whatever you can afford to Christian Aid (by cash or card). At 12.45 there will also be a short “Pause for Thought” talk on a Christian theme. The lunches are one way of doing something extra for Lent. Please give these your support. Thank you.

Third Sunday of Lent
Exodus 3:1-8,13-15 The situation of the Israelite people, at this time, was harsh; they were struggling and oppressed by the ruling Pharaoh in Egypt. While out tending sheep, Moses experiences the presence of God in the Burning Bush. To awaken Moses to this presence he is asked to remove the sandals from his feet. God knows the suffering of His people and asks Moses to call the people to freedom, to a land where milk and honey flow, letting God’s name be known - ‘I am who I am’.
Psalm 102:1-4,6-8,11 The Lord is compassion and love.
1 Corinthians 10:1-6,10-12 Paul reminds the Corinthians that they should put God at the centre of their life. He points out that they will always be tempted to replace God with something else, idolatry, like the ancient Israelites were tempted. He warns against this. Instead, they are to rely on God, who is faithful, to deliver them from this temptation.
Luke 13:1-9 Jesus in today’s Gospel is helping the crowd around him deal with the age-old question; why do bad things happen? This question surfaces in the wake of the slaughter in the temple of unsuspecting Galileans at worship, at the command of Pilate. However, Jesus doesn’t answer the question in the way we might expect or desire; rather he reassures the crowd it was not a consequence to some action or sin. Jesus does however communicate clearly that those who survive are called to repent; twice Jesus says, ‘unless you repent you will all perish as they did.’ He illustrates His meaning with a parable; wherein a tree is given extra time and care to produce fruit, but if doesn’t it will be cut down.

SJB FUND RAISING
Students will be selling baked and other goods after the 9am and 10:30 Masses on Mother’s Day (Sunday 27th) to fundraise for the SJB Lenten charities (The Lighthouse Jigsaw Project and Age Concern in Woking, The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and the Daniel Spargo Mabbs Foundation and, internationally, the charity CSW.org). FIRST AIDERS(S) NEEDED
One or two volunteers are needed to provide First Aid cover at the Good Friday Act of Witness to be held in the town in the morning of Fri 15th April 2022. Extensive expertise or equipment is not needed; just someone who is qualified, (and has a certificate of First Aid competence from their workplace or similar). They will therefore know what to do if someone has a fall or trip or is taken ill and knows when something is serious enough that an ambulance needs to be called or will actually be OK if they are just allowed to rest and recover for a while. Time of duty on the day: 10.45 am - 1230 pm.
DIOCESAN LOURDES PILGRIMAGE 29th JULY - 4th AUGUST
Would you be willing to travel with us in late July this year to help those who, without our help, could never make the journey? We are seeking helpers aged 18 + and Redshirts (especially students in Year 12) to serve our pilgrimage family and become part of our “love in action” week. Travelling to Lourdes, as a helper is a wonderful experience full of fun, companionship, friendship and laughter. Each person on our pilgrimage brings distinctive gifts and graces with them, benefitting those they meet during the week. Subsidies are available for all helpers and Redshirts, if you will struggle to pay the full price. All you need do is ask!
